Why Did Jesus Do All of That When He Could Have Just…

Questions asked on The Narrow Path Radio Program hosted by Steve Gregg – 8/7/2013 Morning Show

  1. In Mark’s gospel, in the story of the healing of the deaf and dumb man, why did Jesus take the man away from the others and put His fingers in the man’s ears and touch the man’s tongue and do all of that when He could have simply laid hands on the man and healed him?  What are we to learn from this particular method that He used?  Do you believe that Jesus recognized that the Father wanted to heal this person in particular, or did He just heal this man at random?
  2. What is your take on a discipleship program that our church is using that asks you to consider a single line of Scripture every week and then asks you to meet with a group and discuss how you understand and how it affects you?
  3. Are we supposed to be spreading the word of God on a daily basis and is it more frowned upon if we don’t do anything? How much should I be telling people about Jesus?
  4. Were people saved only after Jesus died or even before?

Why? why? why? and other questions about the Bible…

Questions asked on The Narrow Path Radio Program hosted by Steve Gregg – 8/5/2013 Afternoon Show

1. Can you explain to me what Christ means when He says to deny yourself and take up your cross and follow Him in Luke 9:23? In Luke 9:24 which states “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it,” is Christ also warning that this can affect our salvation?

2. What are your suggestions for finding real fellowship?

3. Caller said that the mark of the beast and many other prophecies in Revelation have to apply to the future.

4. Why is the Bible so difficult to understand, like Revelation and Ezekiel? Why did God create the Bible that way?  How do we know that other religions are not right and Christianity is? Why don’t many Jews believe in the eyewitnesses to Jesus? Is it true, as the Jews say, that Christians don’t interpret Isaiah 7:14 regarding the virgin birth correctly? How does one know if Christian claims or Jewish claims are true? Why didn’t Jesus present Himself to the Jews after the resurrection instead of just His disciples?

5. Is it correct that all the Old Testament prophecies have been fulfilled and the Kingdom of God has been established now?  Are there any prophecies left that have not yet been fulfilled?

6. Why would a loving God force Abraham to sacrifice his son?

7. Isaiah 53:4 is translated as “Surely He has borne our griefs (or sicknesses) and carried our sorrows”; what is the correct word there?

Steve was joined by Matt Rose, an associate pastor in upstate New York.

1. Can you explain 1 Timothy 5:24-25 which states “Some men’s sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later.  Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden”?

2. Have you seen the video on Youtube where Billy Graham says that people can go to heaven without Christ?  What do you make of that shift?
