Question asked on The Narrow Path Radio Program – 7/22/2013 Afternoon Show:

  1. How did the biblical prophets get their messages and how did they know they were from God?
  2. Can Christians in America claim 2 Chronicles 7:14 which states “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land,” so that if we humble ourselves and pray and repent that God will help us?
  3. Comments regarding the gift of prophecy.  Question: Would you consider John the Baptist a prophet? Steve reported that he once heard a recording of A.W. Tozer, considered by many to have been a modern prophet, where he lapsed into making what sounded like a prophetic statement concerning the future of the church.
  4. Can you explain what Jesus’ statement that “whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” means (found in Matt. 16:18, Matt. 18:18)? What does it mean to “bind” and “loose”?
  5. What kind of questions would be good to ask the congregation regarding Christianity and self-defense and participating in the military?
  6. What do you think of Joel Osteen?
  7. Regarding Luke 10:38-42 and Mary and Martha (see passage below), do you think that Martha was completely in the wrong in that situation? What is your commentary on this? What is the “one thing that is necessary/needed” that Jesus referred to?

“Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” 41 And Jesus answered and said to her,  “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
